About

The Sand Castle Preschool offers traditional free play, circle-time learning, and gross-motor skill development along with enrichment in art, movement, Spanish, and science. Using the Color Me Smart® curriculum created for The Learning Castle, children are introduced to the fundamentals of language and mathematics with worksheets specifically designed for their age group and to develop their fine-motor skills. The preschool’s interior space of over 5,000 square feet was planned and built as a clean, safe, playful environment that supports an early love of learning.

• Ages: 2–4 years old

Construction of The Sand Castle Preschool began in 2015, and after completing the licensing process in early 2016, it opened to the public in June 2016 with a cohort of twelve students. The preschool has since grown to 100 students with a faculty and staff of 20 and is licensed for 135 children between the ages of two and four years old. The program maintains an average class size of 18 students with a 6:1 student-teacher ratio, and each classroom is staffed with a head teacher and two assistants. The Sand Castle Preschool was designed and created to serve the same goals as The Learning Castle and La Canada Preparatory schools, focusing on outstanding, accelerated, academic achievement, and it is founded on the premise that students should be given the opportunity to learn and progress according to, and in harmony with, their individual nature. The campus includes over 5,000 square feet of indoor space and 7,000 square feet of outdoor areas, and The Sand Castle provides a morning and afternoon snack. The preschool’s director is Angie Keshishian, and small group campus tours with her are offered on Saturdays when the preschool is closed to students due to COVID-19 protocols. The stated mission is to educate the whole child at his or her own pace.
