About
Stagelight Family Productions Youth Theatre produces shows that include rehearsals and performances for young actors. The program also offers costume rental and set rental for its productions. Rehearsals and performances follow a set schedule leading up to multiple weekends of shows.
• Schedule: Rehearsals typically run 4–6 weeks, with ensemble rehearsals on Fridays and Saturdays for a total of 1–2 hours each weekend, and lead rehearsals on Saturday or Sunday for 2–4 hours, followed by 2–3 weekends of performances.
• Price: For City of Brea and Whittier productions, registration costs $200.00 for residents and $225.00 for non-residents, with additional costume rental fees when required ranging from $40.00 to $100.00.
Tech week usually takes place from Saturday to Wednesday the week before opening night, with weekend tech rehearsals from 1:00pm–6:00pm including a dinner break, and weekday tech rehearsals from 5:00pm–10:00pm. Performances are scheduled Thursday–Sunday evenings for 2–3 weekends at 7:00pm, with matinee shows on Saturdays and some Sundays at 2:00pm.
Stagelight Family Productions Youth Theatre was founded in 1990 by Janice Kraus and has been serving North Orange County since 1990. It is a 501C3 non profit theatre organization with a mission dedicated to working with communities, schools, and young actors to build a strong and rewarding future for young people in the arts. The organization has been the resident youth theatre production company for the City of Brea and the City of Whittier, and it has produced shows for the City of Newport Beach, Riverside, and Huntington Beach, as well as out-of-region productions in Northern California and Arizona. It currently produces shows with several schools in the Placentia–Yorba Linda School District and for the Orange School District. Stagelight Family Productions Youth Theatre does four shows every year, two in the City of Brea and two in the City of Whittier, and more often than not has at least two different casts distinguishable by color. All families are required to donate a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer work. Additional expenses may include costume fees and proper footwear if required, and optional purchases such as show shirts or sweatshirts, program ads, and Guild Membership. For some productions, performers may be required to rent one or more costumes, and these costume rental fees are not included in registration.
