About
YMCA of Greater San Francisco Summer Camps include traditional day camps, traditional overnight camp, Mini Camp, Counselor In Training, STEAM Camps, and other traditional and specialty camps. Camp options include full-day and overnight camps, with activities that can include sports, arts, STEM, outdoor experiences, group swim lessons, and the Reach & Rise® Mentoring program. Mini Camp offers a shorter session for younger and first-time campers to sample the camp experience, and the Counselor In Training option is for campers who wish to be a camp counselor someday while still taking part in camp activities.
• Ages: 3–16 years old
• Schedule: Multiple weekly summer sessions that vary by YMCA branch, with some branches offering between 5 and 10 weekly traditional day camp sessions, limited weekly specialty camp sessions at certain branches, and a 6-week traditional day camp session through Urban Services YMCA
YMCA of Greater San Francisco Summer Camps are part of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco, a 501(c)3 charitable community organization that serves more than 130,000 people through 15 neighborhood branches, more than 130 program sites, and one residential camp across Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo Counties. The organization was established during the Gold Rush in 1853, and its mission is to empower each person’s journey and strengthen the foundations of community. Every neighborhood YMCA shapes programs and services based on listening and responding to community members, and the organization describes itself as having a cause-driven culture. One staff member states, “The Y is a welcoming place for the community. I enjoy working here and love hearing about how the Y has played a role in the lives of everyone I meet at work and within the community.”
