Its mission statement is that Delhaven Community Center offers people of all ages, and families, positive experiences that will help them in fulfilling their goals and meeting life’s challenges. The organization received recognition as 2019 Non Profit of the Year. Community involvement includes comprehensive social services to children, families, and individuals with special needs; services for at-risk youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities; a mental health program; and events such as a Mini Golf Tournament, Meat Raffle, Community Yard Sale’s, Car Wash, participation in the La Puente Christmas Parade, Christmas food/toy distribution, and family emergency welfare services.

The Because We Care program focuses on providing a support system for those facing challenges with mental illness, learning disabilities, and services for the special needs population, and the Because We Care initiative connects people in crisis with a therapist within 24–72 hours at no cost to families. The center also offers a Free Little Library with free dog treats and poop bags, First Aid/CPR Training, the Funseekers Travel Club, Lake Tahoe Caravan, two State Licensed Adult Day Programs, the Pay it Forward program, court hour referral’s, Volunteer Recognition Dinner, Community Yard Sale’s, a Car Wash, and a Mini Golf Tournament. The Alberto Castillo Scholarship has eight recipients employed in after school programs and pursuing college degrees, with $10,000 to be handed out this year.

Testimonials from school and parent partners describe the free program as something families depend on and appreciate, and note that the Delhaven program offers a structured routine for children, opportunities for children to connect with peers during COVID-19 school closures, and an organized setting for social activity to enrich both mind and body.
