About
The Aviation Education 4 Kids After-School Workshop teaches kids the fundamentals of flight and the science behind keeping an aircraft in the air. Participants learn about aviation, aviation mechanics, Air Traffic Control basics, and the basic principles of aviation through descriptive video instruction, STEM models, aviation games, STEM experiments, engine and aviation building projects, and recognition of distinct types of weather phenomenon. The program also includes learning math, physics, communication, and navigational skills while teaching kids how to fly in static and full motion flight simulators, including rotating between 5 different simulators and flying a full motion simulator.
• Ages: 10–14 years old
• Schedule: Every seven weeks, ten young aviators per class attend a 7-week after-school course
The Aviation Education 4 Kids After-School Workshop is an after-school aviation program where kids learn about aviation, aviation mechanics, Air Traffic Control basics, physics, and science. Aviation is used as the educational tool, intertwining science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, with powerful video presentations accompanied by surround sound and aviation basics taught on simulators.
Youth Inspiration Nation’s mission is to provide motivation, inspiration, and education through aviation. The organization has surrounded itself with professionals from law enforcement, teaching, and aviation, and its leadership includes Founder and Executive Director Zac Woonsam and Robin Petgrave, Executive Director of the Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum in Compton, CA. In early 2020, Youth Inspiration Nation was the first organization to have an aviation program with the first full motion flight simulator inside an elementary school classroom in the United States of America.
Youth Inspiration Nation incorporates community First Responders, including LA County Fire Air Operations, Sherriff’s Air Operations, LA County Fire/Rescue, Sherriff’s Department, LA County Lifeguards, Los Angeles Port Police, local paramedics, and California Highway Patrol, to interact with participants. Children involved with Youth Inspiration Nation are raising funds to help kids affected by serious health conditions. For a child to succeed in this program, they are required to attend every day. Registration for The Aviation Education 4 Kids After-School Workshop is currently closed, with limited spots available and the next class starting in early 2026.
