Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS) Recreation Programs include community events, recreational and social programs and classes, neighborhood block parties, and a neighborhood block parties reimbursement program. The program also offers the Ranch Hands volunteer program, community clubs and groups, a teen leadership council, and new homeowner welcome receptions. Families can take part in events such as the Ladera Ranch Farmer’s Market, Beer and Wine Festival, Ladera Grand Prix & 5K Race, Family Campout, Barks, Biscuits & Brew events, National Night Out, Ladera Derby Days, and the Celebrate Ladera event, as well as use amenities like an executive-style disc golf course and outdoor games such as Gaga Ball and cornhole.
Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS) is the lifestyle division for Ladera’s events, recreational programs, activities and volunteering, and is an independent community services organization (CSO). LARCS states that it builds a strong social fabric by encouraging neighborhood interaction through technology, programs, activities and the spirit of volunteerism. LARCS is an independent 501(c)(4) nonprofit public benefit corporation with an independently elected governing Board of Directors and is funded primarily through a Community Enhancement Fee paid at the sale or resale of any home in Ladera Ranch, set at 1/8% of the purchase price for first-time sales and 1/4% for resales. The Community Services Director for LARCS is Ashley Blair. LARCS works with residents and community partners year-round to host collection drives and give items to Marines, promotes communication among neighbors, organizations, alliances and businesses through LaderaLife.com and publications, and offers programs such as the LARCS Scholarship program, the LARCS Lifestyle Legacy Grant, a Volunteer of the Year Recognition Program, and a partnership with Mercedes to study local transportation solutions and offer a summer shuttle for teens. Ladera Ranch is described as offering the charm and safety of a small town, with exclusive community events, pet-friendly parks, close-knit clubs, groups and programs, and is comprised of three districts, six villages and unique amenities, including Ladera’s first executive-style disc golf course with shorter distances for faster play, outdoor games at Mission Hills Park such as Gaga Ball and cornhole, solar at Cox Sports Park, and new pickleball courts and a new half-court basketball court at Avendale Village Clubhouse. The community’s history includes the founding of Ladera Ranch in 1999, the opening of Ladera Ranch Sports Park in 2001, Avendale Village Clubhouse in 2002, Founder’s Park and Ladera Ranch Library in 2003, additional village clubhouses in 2004, the Skate Park, Wagsdale Park and Terramor Water Park in 2005, Ladera Ranch Sports Center in 2016, the first disc golf course in Covenant Hills in 2022, and the reopening of the putting golf course at Mission Hills Park after refurbishment in 2024.
