Husky House, Inc. is a non-profit, state-licensed, year-round child care and enrichment program, and is described as a school-age, state-licensed, non-profit child care center. It operates as a before and after school program and summer camp that is open to the whole community, with programs for children entering TK through 12 years of age. The space is a nut-free facility and uses two buildings, with access to three playgrounds, a gym, classrooms, and a library. The program has been serving the Happy Valley community for over 30 years.
The staff is composed of child development professionals, college students, and graduates with backgrounds and/or degrees in child development, psychology, physical education, fine arts, and teaching. Staff members have prior practical experience in a variety of work settings with children, and in areas of staff expertise and ratios of staff to children, they exceed the standards established by their licensing agency. The mission of Husky House, Inc. states that it is committed to supporting the individual growth of the whole child and that through connection and collaboration it nurtures the development of responsible, independent, creative, and thoughtful citizens.
