ModernTone Studios Music Lessons and Performing Programs offers guitar, bass, drums, piano, voice, songwriting, and music production lessons, as well as group performance programs with hands-on rehearsals and stage productions. Students can also take part in recording, mixing, mastering, pre-production, instrumentation, arrangement, and transcription, along with audiobook production, narration recording, and voice-over recording for film and television. Lessons are available in person or online and can include one-on-one lessons, mixing and mastering services, songwriting sessions, and music production coaching.

ModernTone Studios Music Lessons and Performing Programs is a full-service, state of the art recording and teaching facility with modular studio spaces that support recording, mixing, and mastering. The program is run by record producers and performing musicians who specialize in a wide variety of styles and genres, and all instructors are active musicians who perform regularly on stages around the Bay Area. Music instructors have decades of experience in touring, recording, and teaching, and the team includes Jacob Light, a musician, producer, and audio engineer with 25 years of experience and founder, owner, and musical director of ModernTone; Jessica Winn, who has 20+ years of music experience and a master’s degree from the San Francisco Conservatory; Jan Fidelis, who has a master’s degree in music composition; Chris Martsolf, who has a music degree from UCSC; and Diana Alvarez, who has a PhD. ModernTone states that it aims to provide professional instruction, guidance, and support that empower people to realize and fulfill their potential and achieve their musical dreams.
ModernTone serves local bands, singers, songwriters, instrumentalists, and musical groups in the Bay Area and produces audiobooks for local authors. The studio is described as a truly unique musical hub that caters to recording artists, bands, aspiring musicians, and music students of all levels, and it provides a nurturing learning environment for students of all ages and playing levels.
