The Peter Pan Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses on music productions, theater productions, and musical theater productions, including musical performances and a monthly cabaret night. Participants take part in teen leadership, volunteering, teaching, learning, and the PPF BAMM Squad, an extraordinary think tank of teenagers who meet weekly to help run The PPF. The foundation produces sensory-friendly shows, ASL interpreted shows, and specialty audience geared shows, and raises money through musical fundraisers.

The Peter Pan Foundation is dedicated to inspiring children of all ages to reach their full potential by building confidence, character, and creativity through music and theater while instilling the value of community outreach and philanthropy. The foundation came to life on January 1st, 2007, and its founder is Leslie Noel Hansen. Its annual “Wish Upon a Star” extravaganza is its signature show, with eight performances and more than 200 performers of all ages, performed each year on Memorial Day weekend at Diablo Valley College.
The Peter Pan Foundation focuses on bringing magic and support to patients at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, Make-A-Wish kids, and kids with special needs, and raises money for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland and other causes in need of financial support through musical fundraisers. The foundation has raised over $200,000 for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, has helped grant over 100 wishes, has visited and performed for thousands of patients and audience members, and has had thousands of participants. Its community involvement includes visiting hospitals, kids with special needs, schools, other philanthropic organizations, and individuals who need a pick me up, and partnering with other causes, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2018.
The Peter Pan Foundation offers open casting to all performers regardless of race, ethnicity, appearance, age, gender, and skill level, and produces sensory-friendly, ASL interpreted, and specialty audience geared shows to provide theatre to all audiences. It is described as a loving and supportive environment that fosters positive self-image and lifelong friendships, with a stated goal to be a giving, loving, inclusive, anti-racist, inspiring safe space.
The Peter Pan Foundation has received the Jefferson Award for Public Service, Diablo Magazine’s Threads of Hope Award, the Comcast Bay Area News Group Hometown Hero Award, the AT&T Community Spotlight Award, two Tony Award Nominations for Education, Contra Costa County Arts & Culture Commission Recognition, and the Starbucks & Born This Way Foundation Community Partner Award and Grant.
