Lake Forest Ice Palace Summer Camp takes place at a rink that offers public skating sessions, freestyle skating, broom hockey, skating lessons, Skating School classes, and birthday parties. The camp runs in a facility that also hosts a competitive hockey program for youths and adults, as well as adult hockey leagues.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Skating School classes are 30 minutes long and are held on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with public skating sessions scheduled before class on Wednesdays and Fridays and after class on Saturdays.
• Price: Anyone not enrolled in Skating School can skate on public sessions for $20 admission plus a $5 skate rental fee.
The Skating School is for all ages and levels and follows the Learn To Skate USA class curriculum, using skill cards to track each skater’s class progress. All class levels are offered on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and enrollment includes a weekly 30-minute class, free skate rental, and admission to the public session for practice on the same day as class. All Skating School students must be Learn To Skate USA members, and all students must be Learn To Skate USA members. The program has rolling enrollment with a progress-at-your-speed structure, and students are prorated the first month for any missed classes prior to their start date. When a student is marked absent, Skating School makeup tokens are automatically created, and the skater can make up as many classes as missed, schedule permitting; makeup tokens expire 30 days from the missed class, cannot be transferred to siblings or used for credit, and must be used while the skater is actively enrolled. Adult hockey offers intermediate and upper-intermediate adult leagues with competitive hockey and a fun, community atmosphere.
Families are advised to make sure that skaters are dressed warmly and to bring gloves or mittens. All protective gear such as helmets and knee pads is optional, and skates should fit snugly and be tied tightly. The Ice Palace states that it is committed to providing the finest experience on ice skates.
