The College of Marin Child Development Program – Child Study Center includes activities such as a Meet and Greet for families, visits from Mail Carrier Mike with a reading of “Delivering your Mail” and a tour of the mail carrier truck, and Bread and Roses Presents: Stinky Tales. Children also take part in Wild Care: Birds of a Feather to investigate traits of feathered creatures and Wild Care: Wild Wetlands to explore life cycles of animals in creeks, ponds, and marshes.

• Schedule: Monday–Thursday 7:45 am to 5 pm; Fridays 7:45 am to 4 pm

The program offers a Meet and Greet on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with Back to School starting Monday, August 18, 2025, and a Parent Orientation on August 18, 2025, at 4:00 pm. Special visitors and events include Mail Carrier Mike on September 24, 2025, COM Chief of Police Raul Aguilar on October 23, 2025, the Kentfield Fire Department on February 18, 2026, at 10:30 am, Wild Care: Birds of a Feather on November 20, 2025, at 10:00 am, Wild Care: Wild Wetlands on January 9, 2026, at 10:00 am, and Bread and Roses Presents: Stinky Tales on September 27, 2025, and March 6, 2026, both at 10:00 am. Parent Advisory Meetings are scheduled at 4:00 pm on Monday, September 8, 2025, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Monday, February 5, 2026, and Tuesday, May 5, 2026, with Parent Workshops on September 8, 2025 (Raising a Reader) and Spring 2026 (STEM).

The Child Study Center serves as a demonstration classroom setting that provides child observation, research and practicum opportunities, student teacher training, and Work Study jobs for more than 230 College of Marin students annually. The program is run by a group of highly skilled, well-trained professionals who understand the developmental needs of young children. The College of Marin Child Development Program states that its curriculum supports children’s inquiry with concrete experiences across language, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, and that it offers a balanced routine of structured and unstructured exploration time to meet the varying needs of all children.
