About

Kids Cooking for Life is a cooking program where kids and teens take part in hands-on cooking activities. The program focuses on teaching cooking skills through preparing food and following recipes.

• Ages: 5–18 years old

Since 2009, Kids Cooking for Life has been run by Youth Cooking Services, a nonprofit organization created by nutritionists and educators. Its mission is to empower Bay Area kids and teens with nutritional knowledge and cooking skills for their lifelong health and well-being. The program has educated over 10,000 kids and teens in these life skills. The leadership and staff include Saeri Yuk (President), Lara Rajninger (Executive Director), Shannon Atkeson (Impact and Resources Director), Rebecca Bar-Cohen (North Bay Regional Manager), Polly Sang (East Bay Regional Director), Brooke Jackson (Recipe Developer), Stephanie Lee (Program Coordinator), Ronnie Sharpe (Design and IT Manager), Hannah Yurke (Communications Manager), Anna Leachman, MS (Development Coordinator & Instructor), and a team of instructors and volunteer instructors including Rosalie Arcadi, Betsy Bateson, Michelle Bryant, Renee Campbell, Andrea Passman Candell, Marianna Carter, Tracey Foster, Julie Kieras, Josh Lee, Amanda Martinez, Lauren Metzroth, Beth Niles, Marilucia Oliveira, Kathleen Peterson, Jaira Roxas, and Stephanie Yatzeck. Kids Cooking for Life serves communities across the entire Bay Area, including after-school programs, Title-I schools, hospitals, and other organizations, with partial to full subsidies available to schools and organizations serving under-resourced communities.
