Lincoln Youth Soccer Club (LYSC) was established in 1978 by Will Moreback, Don Stewart, and David Zinzun Sr. The Recreational League is the foundation of Lincoln Youth Soccer Club programs, and programs are led by volunteer coaches and team managers. Lincoln FC (LFC) is the club’s competitive soccer program and offers players the ability to compete at various levels, including Nickle, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Premier, and Diamond, through league play, State Cup, and tournaments. In 2016, Lincoln Youth Soccer Club coaches began competing in CalNorth’s CYSL competitive program as Lincoln FC, applied to NorCal Premier in 2017, were accepted as a probational program in 2018, and were formally accepted in 2019. Lincoln Youth Soccer Club states that its goal is to provide an opportunity for families to build a community of other families and enjoy the benefits soccer can bring to their lives.
Kinder Kickers is for kids 3–5 years old to introduce the basics and get kids excited about soccer. Junior Skills Academy is for kids 6–7 years old who plan on playing recreational soccer and want to extend their season through the spring and summer. The U8 Academy is for players under 8 years old who would like to progress from recreational soccer to competitive soccer. State Cup is described as a season-long tournament that allows teams to compete at the same levels as league but against teams from throughout Northern California, and tournaments are weekend events where teams may face opponents from different states or countries. Teams may, at their own discretion, continue play in local indoor or futsal facilities, and players not participating with teams may, at their family’s discretion, build skills through local indoor or futsal facilities or skills camps throughout the region.
Lincoln Youth Soccer Club is identified as the community’s recreational soccer league, and Lincoln FC is identified as the community’s competitive soccer program. Related organizations include Sacramento Republic FC, US Club Soccer, City of Lincoln Parks & Rec, Nor Cal Premier, Vision Soccer Training, Lincoln FC, CA North Ref Association, and Placer Alliance. Lincoln Youth Soccer, Lincoln, California hosts LYSC Board Meetings on April 13, May 11, and June 8, and Fall Rec Registration is scheduled to open on April 1. The USSF youth soccer age matrix is changing from a January 1–December 31 “birth year” system to an August 1–July 31 “seasonal year” system effective for the 2026–2027 season, and this change is intended to better align players with their school-grade peers. The schedule notes that coaches’ meetings are on July 14 for U6–8 and July 15 for U9 and above, with the first day of practice for U9 and above on August 3, a seeding tournament for U9–U14 on August 15, and the first day of practice for U6–U8 on August 17.
