Lincoln Youth Soccer Club offers a recreational soccer league, a competitive soccer program, league play, State Cup, tournaments, indoor soccer, futsal, and skills camps. The program also includes Kinder Kickers, Junior Skills Academy, and a U8 Academy, along with seasonal league games and practices.
• Ages: 3–14 years old
• Schedule: Teams play approximately 10 games per season, usually beginning in August and ending in late November or early December.
Lincoln Youth Soccer Club (LYSC) was established in 1978 by Will Moreback, Don Stewart, and David Zinzun Sr. Lincoln Youth Soccer Club is the community’s recreational soccer league, and Lincoln FC (LFC) is the community’s competitive soccer program. The Recreational League is led by volunteer coaches and team managers. The stated goal of the program is to provide an opportunity for families to build a community of other families and enjoy all of the benefits soccer can bring to their lives.
Kinder Kickers is for kids 3–5 years old and introduces the basics and gets kids excited about soccer. Junior Skills Academy is for kids 6–7 years old and extends the season through the spring and summer for those who plan on playing recreational soccer. The U8 Academy is for players under 8 years old who would like to progress from recreational soccer to competitive soccer, where coaches and players work with a Visions Trainer.
Lincoln FC (LFC) offers players the ability to compete at a high level against teams throughout Northern California, the state, and the nation. League levels are made up of Nickle, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Premier, and Diamond levels. State Cup is a season-long tournament that allows teams to compete at the same levels as league and may include opponents from throughout Northern California. Tournaments are weekend events where teams compete at various levels against teams that enter the tournament and may be from different states or countries. Teams may, at their own discretion, continue play in local indoor or futsal facilities, and players may build on their skills by participating in local indoor or futsal facilities or skills camps offered throughout the region.
For one season, teams will play approximately 10 games, usually beginning in August and ending in late November or early December. Coaches meetings are scheduled for July 14 for U6–U8 and July 15 for U9 and above. The first day of practice for U9 and above is August 3, and the first day of practice for U6–U8 is August 17. A seeding tournament for U9–U14 is scheduled for August 15 at Foskett.
Lincoln Youth Soccer Club lists related organizations including Sacramento Republic FC, US Club Soccer, City of Lincoln Parks & Rec, Nor Cal Premier, Vision Soccer Training, Lincoln FC, CA North Ref Association, and Placer Alliance. In 2016, Lincoln Youth Soccer Club coaches began competing in CalNorth’s CYSL competitive program as Lincoln FC. In 2017, Lincoln FC applied to NorCal Premier, a competitive league, and in 2018 was accepted as a probational program, then formally accepted in 2019. The USSF youth soccer age matrix is changing from a January 1–December 31 “birth year” system to an August 1–July 31 “seasonal year” system effective for the 2026–2027 season, and LYSC has to comply with this matrix, which is intended to better align players with their school-grade peers.
