Summer Youth Conservatory is part of an organization that has been serving the community since 1985. The program offers scholarships. The mission of the organization is to entertain, educate, inspire and provoke thoughtful dialogue through live theatre. The organization also forms partnerships with community members to bring a diverse community together, to introduce students to live theatre, and to raise funds for college scholarships. Students in the conservatory are learning to think creatively, use their imaginations, work as a team, and have a chance to form bonds with new friends.

The program is part of an organization that has been voted “Best Kids Camp” in Long Beach in the Press-Telegram Readers Choice Awards in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. The City Council of Long Beach has officially and unanimously recognized International City Theatre as the resident professional theatre company of the city. The organization has been cited by The New York Times as an innovative theatre (1992), named one of the top 10 theatres in Southern California by The Los Angeles Times (1997), received the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Sustained Excellence in the Theatre (2000), a Workforce Diversity Best Practices Award from the Chamber of Commerce, and an LADCC Award for Outstanding Season. Former LA County Supervisor Don Knabe has called the organization “a cultural treasure.”
