About
Youth Enrichment Programs – United Cambodian Community includes activities such as soft-skills training, BLS certification, onsite clinicals, art studio visits, support with mural art, script writing and creative writing workshops, musical theatre and acapella workshops, Chinese calligraphy, painting, drawing, music, and performance. Living Arts Long Beach is described as a free after-school youth art program that uses experienced local guest artists with careers in the arts to lead classes open to all skill levels and covering the Visual and Performance Art (VAPA) curriculum. Kids Art at UCC is an arts education program that introduces arts through guided learning and activities and includes work on social and communication skills and teamwork.

UCC was established in 1977 by a small group of Cambodian refugees, and UCC Plaza opened in 1991. UCC provides culturally competent social services to the Cambodian community in Long Beach and has developed into a multi-service agency offering youth development, workforce development, gang prevention, and mental health services. UCC lists four strategic program areas: Health Equity, Youth Enrichment, Community Integration, and Economic Inclusion.
The Multi-Cultural Youth Ambassador Program – Long Beach Mentors in Violence Prevention (LBMVP) is described as a 6‑month multi-cultural learning experience that includes paid learning opportunities and is designed to strengthen the life skills of young people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds and to build bonds of friendship and cultural understanding between youth and young adults. The free CNA Certification program serves out-of-school youths between the ages of 17–24 with cohort-based classes set to support both career and personal development, and each youth in the CNA program is assigned a youth coach or mentor to help set goals and create an action plan to prioritize their needs. Living Arts Long Beach provides free materials, lessons, social skills building, mentoring services, individual tutoring, educational support, college tour and admission assistance, and other services.
The organization’s mission statement is to elevate the Cambodian community through local engagement and leadership that embodies Cambodian cultural values. UCC’s community involvement also includes the Cambodia Town Business Relief Fund, which is described as supporting Cambodia Town businesses affected by looting, with all funds allocated directly to businesses. The leadership and staff list includes roles such as Executive Director, Program Managers, Youth Coordinator, Youth Coach/Mentor, Community Health Workers, Community Ambassador Network workers, Housing Counselor, Business Navigators, and board officers and members.
