Established in 1929, the Long Beach Playhouse is one of the oldest continually running volunteer community theaters in the western United States and produces 13 shows annually. Its mission is to celebrate the human experience while encouraging the participation of artist and audience alike. The organization is led by Executive Director Madison Mooney, Producing Artistic Director Sean Gray, Technical Director Jesse Bozmano, and Costume Shop Manager and Resident Costume Designer Christina Bayer. The Playhouse actively collaborates with other artists and arts organizations and identifies as a community theatre organization that wants to reflect the diverse Long Beach community that surrounds it. Both of its theaters consistently receive awards and critical acclaim, and the quality of its productions is widely recognized throughout Southern California. The Playhouse also offers art and sculpture exhibits in its Gallery, and season subscriptions are available for both theatres.
