The Youth Center Programs

The Youth Center Programs includes Camp SHARK, Seasonal Camps, After School Academy, Tutoring, RASCALS Elementary Afterschool Program, Middle School Afterschool Academy, Music Academy, Girls in STEM, and seasonal break camps. Camp SHARK includes activities, arts and crafts, sports, science, and field trips. The After School Academy includes homework help, and Tutoring offers one-on-one help for math, English, reading, writing, homework, and projects.

Programs

• Camp SHARK — AGES 5-12 · $32 per day · An award-winning summer camp filled with fun and friendships. In Rossmoor, it offers activities, arts and crafts, sports, science, field trips, and more.
• Seasonal Camps — kids of all ages · $32 per day · Engaging seasonal camps filled with fun, friendship, creativity, and enriching activities.
• After School Academy — Monday-Friday, 2:00-6:00pm · $0–$25 · An after-school program with homework help, activities, and friends.
• Tutoring — 1-8 grades · Monday through Friday, 2:00-6:00pm · $15 per session · One-on-one help for math, English, reading, writing, and more; homework and projects help.
• RASCALS Elementary Afterschool Program — Elementary · August 13-June 4, Monday-Friday, 2:00-6:00pm · $5 per day · Staff only for Lee Elementary and Rossmoor Elementary; includes Guided Creation Station, Snack Shack, Crafting Corner, Reading Nook, Patio Play, and Sports+.
• Middle School Afterschool Academy — Grades 6-8 · August 13-June 4, Monday-Friday, 2:00-6:00pm · $0–$25 · Includes STEM Activities, Scoreboard Squad, Whisk Takers, Crafting Corner, Homework Help, and Fieldtrips.
• Fall Break Camp — November 23-27, 2026.
• Winter Break Camp — December 21, 2026 to January 1, 2027.
• Presidents Week Camp — February 15-19, 2027.
• Spring Break Camp — March 29 to April 2, 2027.
• Music Academy — Music lessons that build skills, creativity, and confidence.
• Girls in STEM — Hands-on STEM workshops that inspire girls to explore innovation.

About the provider

The program has served Los Alamitos families for over 70 years and says it has been building great kids since 1952. It is described as offering safe, affordable, and enriching programs, and its credentials note award-winning after school programs and an award-winning summer camp.

• Camp S.H.A.R.K. Registration Opens — Registration Opens April 1st, 2027

No drop-in campers; parents must pre-register. Staff are CPR/First Aid certified. Zero-tolerance policy for bullying, stealing, or otherwise hurting another child or staff member, resulting in immediate expulsion from camp. Staff monitor boundaries, visitors, and restroom visits.
