Los Alamitos Ballet School states that it will train, coach, and mentor young dancers to achieve their highest potential, foster a love for the performing arts, and prepare them for a professional career in dance and any other field they wish to pursue. Los Alamitos Ballet Theatre (LABT) is a pre-professional, nonprofit dance company made up of racially diverse pre-professional and professional artists who perform demanding repertory at a high level of quality and offer community outreach and arts education experiences. LABT performs 6–7 times a year and began its bi-annual Dance Across Cultures international tour program in 2025. During the inaugural Dance Across Cultures trip to Trinidad, LABT collaborated with the Astor Johnson Repertory Dance Theatre to bring dance to underserved communities, and Peru is the destination for the upcoming tour. LABT hosts an annual fundraising gala, with all proceeds supporting future Dance Across Cultures tours and other artistic initiatives.
LABS provides a well-rounded dance education that focuses on classical ballet while also offering contemporary, jazz, and K-Pop. LABS students have two major annual performance opportunities: Land of the Sweets and the Spring Performance. Creative Movement 1 through Pre-Ballet 2 are invited to participate in two LABS performances per year in December and June. Pre-Ballet 3 attends one class weekly, while Children’s Level 1 and 2 dancers are required to attend two ballet classes weekly. Jazz and K-Pop are offered at Primary Division levels if the prerequisite number of ballet classes are taken, and dancers at the Primary Division level may be invited to perform with Los Alamitos Ballet Theatre in its annual production of Sugar Plum’s Realm. Those wishing to enroll in Pre-Pointe/Pointe need approval from the artistic staff and must take two ballet classes weekly to qualify. Junior Level 1–3 classes are invited to participate in two LABS performances per year in December and June, and Pre-Professional Ballet 1–7 classes are invited to participate in two LABS performances per year and may also be invited to perform with Los Alamitos Ballet Theatre in Sugar Plum’s Realm. The Pre-Professional Division offers smaller class sizes. New students are welcome to schedule a tour of the facility and a free trial class.
