Instruction includes personalized lessons supported by a Grade Finder tool to determine the best class, and Regional Center participants are welcome.
• Ages: 0–17 years old
• Schedule: Class options are available seven days a week, with weekday and weekend hours and a Jr. Guard Prep session running from January 26th to May 8th
Since 1971, the Smart Fish method used at Watersafe Swim School has taught survival skills and advanced technique to thousands of students from birth to adulthood, and the school has 52 years of experience and over 46 years as a USSSA Member. Watersafe Swim School is the creator of the Smart Fish Method and offers an award-winning Smart Fish curriculum through the nationally recognized Smart Fish Academy, with Watersafe certified teachers around the world including the U.S., Mexico, South America, Europe, and Asia. The facilities include a state of the art UV pool sanitation system and are described as fun, beautiful spaces for babies, toddlers, kids, and teens.
The staff includes highly trained and certified teachers who are carefully chosen and extensively trained and certified through the nationally recognized Smart Fish Academy, and all staff are certified in CPR, AED, and first aid. The leadership team includes Founder Ginny Ferguson; Smart Fish curriculum developers Ginny (Flahive) Ferguson and her daughter Karen Flahive Nance; Nathan as Chief Executive; Meryl as Chief Operations; and Liz as Aquatics Director. The mission statement for Watersafe Swim School is, “I want to create a place where safety, swimming, fun, and raising goodwill for the community come together.”
Watersafe Swim School has been recognized as one of Orange County’s Best Places to Work in 2023 and is recognized for excellence. Through Watersafe Helps and tuition assistance via Hope Floats, the program states that every child has the opportunity to enjoy swimming, and being part of the Watersafe Family is described as a commitment to the safety of children in the local community. The program also offers a Free Infant Experience / Free Infant Swim Experience.
Parent feedback includes comments that the facility is clean with staff constantly cleaning, that instructors such as Miss Jessica Passion and Miss Christie have taught children many skills in a short span, and that semi-personal lessons led to children swimming and breathing on their own after three sessions. One parent reports driving from the Valley each week because of how much they like the teachers, another shares that a baby enrolled in the free infant swim experience at 2.5 months was floating independently by 4 months, and another describes Watersafe Swim School as a fun, beautiful facility for babies, toddlers, kids, and teens.
