Adventures in Nature Seasonal Day Camp

Adventures in Nature Seasonal Day Camp includes hands-on experiences where campers explore dinosaurs, explore the nature all around them, and participate in bug-themed projects. Campers have up-close encounters with live bugs, spend time in the Museum’s Nature Gardens and Nature Lab, and meet real museum entomologists. They also take part in hands-on dinosaur activities, meet the scientists who excavate and study dinosaurs, explore the Museum's exhibit Orcas!, and take a simulated dive on the Ocean Experience Mobile Museum while stepping into the role of cetologists and learning from Museum scientists who study whales and ocean life. Additional activities include studying nightlife, meeting a live nocturnal animal, meeting Museum wildlife biologists, doing paleo-inspired activities, meeting paleontologists, interacting with real fossils, visiting laboratory and collection spaces, meeting the staff who shape the museum experience, and participating in hands-on exhibit-inspired projects.

Adventures in Nature Camps have provided three decades of unique, hands-on experiences for campers. Seasonal day camps are offered for kids in grades K–5, with themed weeks such as Insect Investigators, Raptor Rangers, Pod Patrol, Nocturnal Neighbors, Paleo Tales, and Museum Makers. Campers get up-close access to 4.5 billion years of life on Earth, and camps use the research and collections of the Museum as a jumping off point for exploration and adventure. The program has a low staff-to-child ratio, and instructors and counselors are professional educators and students with interest and experience in teaching and science. The camps are designed to explore science and nature in ways that spark curiosity and are as fun as they are interesting, and Adventures in Nature is made possible with support from LADWP.
