About
After 'Cool is a weekly afterschool arts education and enrichment program where students take part in theatre and storytelling. The program uses these art forms to engage students in structured classes led by teaching artists.
• Ages: 7–13 years old
• Schedule: Weekly afterschool classes beginning the week of August 19, 2025, with separate class times for different grade levels
• Price: A weekly afterschool arts education and enrichment program offered for local students grades 2-8, After ‘Cool is generously supported by foundations to serve 150 students every school year at no cost to families (value is $1500 per student). 24th Street offers three classes for various age groups, all at NO COST to you. This $1500 scholarship is made possible through generous donations by The USC Good Neighbors Campaign, The Green Foundation, The Dwight Stuart Youth Fund, The Carl and Roberta Deutsch Foundation, The Rosenthal Family Foundation, The California Arts Council, and The Artistic Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Youth.
Classes begin the week of August 19, 2025, with Grades 2–3 meeting on Tuesdays from 4:15pm to 5:15pm, Grades 4–5 meeting on Thursdays from 4:15pm to 5:30pm, and Grades 6–8 meeting on Fridays from 4:15pm to 5:30pm. After ‘Cool is taught by highly experienced teaching artists. The curriculum is aligned with the California Content Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts to match the arts education skills expected for each grade level. The program’s mission is to engage, educate, and provoke young people and their families with excellent theatre and arts education. 24th Street Theatre describes After ‘Cool as one of LA County’s Best Arts Education Programs, and the program notes that “Se habla español.”
