After 'Cool

After ‘Cool offers weekly, in-person afterschool arts education and enrichment through theatre and storytelling. The program is scholarshipped and has no cost to families. It serves students in grades 2-8, with classes on Tuesdays for grades 2-3 from 4:15pm–5:15pm, Thursdays for grades 4-5 from 4:15pm–5:30pm, and Fridays for grades 6-8 from 4:15pm–5:30pm.

Programs

• After ‘Cool — Grades 2-8 · Weekly, in-person; Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays · Scholarshipped, weekly, afterschool arts education and enrichment program. Taught through theatre and storytelling. No cost to families.
• Teen Leadership Academy — High school students · Weekly, after school · Scholarshipped arts education and enrichment program for local high school students who love drama and the arts and want to become leaders within their community.
• Summer ‘Cool — Two-week long · Crash course to ignite students' creative minds, and impart lifelong skills through the artforms of theatre and storytelling.
• Brain & Creativity — Youngest students · Theatre classes for the youngest students in partnership with the USC Brain and Creativity Institute’s EXCEL study.

About the provider

After ‘Cool is part of a program with 29 years of excellence in arts education. Its mission is to engage, educate, and provoke young people and their families with theatre and arts education. It is described as one of LA County’s best arts education programs, aligns with the California Content Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts, aligns with the California Arts Standards, and meets Prop 28 requirements for external programs.

After ‘Cool is scholarshipped and offered at no cost to families; 150 students every school year. Grades 2-8. Tuesdays, Grades 2-3 from 4:15pm–5:15pm; Thursdays, Grades 4-5 from 4:15–5:30pm; Fridays, Grades 6-8 from 4:15–5:30pm.
