About
Children and Youth Enrichment Programs – Tutoring and Educational Activities includes tutoring and educational activities along with an after-school parent-child relationship building program, holiday programs and activities, and a Summer Enrichment Program. The program also offers children’s case management, individual and family counseling, and counseling services provided by registered MFT counselors and interns. Participants may also take part in anger management, domestic violence awareness and education classes, parenting classes, and empowerment and enrichment classes, as well as substance abuse groups and sexual assault groups.
Founded in 1980, Jenesse Center operates Children and Youth Enrichment Programs – Tutoring and Educational Activities as part of its services. The program is part of a nonprofit domestic violence intervention and prevention organization whose mission is to restore, and provide trauma informed, culturally responsive, holistic, comprehensive services to survivors and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence, and to advance prevention modalities to sustain healthy and safe communities free of violence. Services connected to this program also include household establishment support, workforce development, entrepreneurship and vocational education programs, professional education such as computer skills, resume writing, career counseling and job search, and a Financial Freedom Program covering budgeting, banking, and saving, as well as G.E.D., community college and online degree program enrollment and a Social Enterprise Program. Health-related services include health assessments by a registered nurse, health care referrals and follow-up services, and health education classes on nutrition, fitness and healthy living, and stress relief. Jenesse Center also offers 24/7 confidential hotline help, transportation services available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, emergency housing with on-site case management, all meals provided and a children’s play area, and transitional housing where families may reside up to 24 months in specified unit configurations. The organization works locally, nationally and globally to shine a light on violence against women, girls, men and boys and advocates the basic human right for all people to have peace in their homes and relationships, and it participates in LAPD’s Domestic Abuse Response Team Program (DART) in the 77th, Southeast, Southwest and Harbor Divisions, including collaboration with law enforcement to ensure safe transportation.
