Explore Ballona! Nature Camp is a science-based day camp that focuses on nature in an urban environment. Campers take part in activities such as identifying plants and animals and participating in environmental stewardship projects. Many of the educational activities meet California curriculum standards.

• Ages: 8–11 years old
• Schedule: Week-long sessions during Summer
• Schedule: Sessions Monday–Friday, 9:00am–3:00pm
• Price: Cost: $350 per session. Scholarships available upon request. Use discount code “MULTI” for a 5% discount if a camper is signed up for multiple weeks, or multiple campers are signed up for the same week.

Explore Ballona! Nature Camp is part of the work of Friends of Ballona Wetlands, whose founder Ruth Lansford was honored by the City of Los Angeles with one of the Women of Impact Awards, and which was named this year’s best nonprofit by Hometown News. The Explore Ballona! Environmental Education Team led a Project WET Workshop in collaboration with Loyola Marymount University and its Center for Undergraduate Teacher Preparation. Friends of Ballona Wetlands hosted the Wilson Ornithological Society’s 2025 Annual Meeting attendees for tours of the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve and the Ballona Freshwater Marsh, and received a $2,000 donation from Pardee Properties and a $40,000 grant from UCLA’s Philanthropy as Civic Engagement Course.
