• Price: $150/day (includes green fee) for Junior Golf Camp.
PGA Teaching Professional Carlos R. Rodriguez is a Class A PGA Certified and Trained Professional with over 30 years of experience and many years of study and passing golf playing qualifications. He is a U.S. Marine and long-time Aikido practitioner who studied Aikido in Tokyo at the Hombu Dojo, and he received the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge The George Washington Honor Medal for his service to disabled veterans in teaching them golf and Aikido. He is an instructor at First Tee of Los Angeles and previously worked as Assistant Golf Professional at Indian Spring Country Club in Silver Spring, Maryland. The leadership team includes PGA Teaching Professional Carlos R. Rodriguez and Manager Pamela Kratochvil.
Carlos volunteers teaching Veterans in the Greater Los Angeles VA domiciliary Golf Therapy program and at his Four Corners Veterans Foundation, and he is an instructor at First Tee of Los Angeles. Junior students from L.A. Golf Academy have gone on to win city golf tournaments and join school golf teams. L.A. Golf Academy also offers gift certificates.
Carlos’s teaching philosophy centers on harmony between the mental and physical aspects of the golf game. He focuses on breaking down barriers and preconceptions that may have blocked students from learning skills and concepts, and he has students visualize movements in the mind while staying centered and free-focused. The L.A. Golf Academy approach is that golfers do not all learn the same and are physically different, and Carlos works to shift students’ focus from only the physical aspects of the golf swing to more mental aspects of the game.
One Yelp review from Adam S. describes Carlos as a gifted coach who approaches each lesson with confidence and positivity and notes that Carlos has the patience to keep swing fundamentals moving in the right direction. Another Yelp review from Nicole describes that she had never golfed before and that Carlos taught her to golf in one hour the day before a charity event where she had to play 18 holes, and she reports being able to keep up with the other golfers and would take lessons again.
