Summer Reading Skills Program
Loyola Marymount University, 1 LMU Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90045
About
Summer Reading Skills Programs include weekly classes that build skills and provide great experiences with books. Between classes, students complete practice reading, and in class they take part in fun, interactive lessons that develop core skills and build confidence. Each student is guided by a knowledgeable and supportive teacher, and class size is limited.
• Schedule: Weekly classes with reading practice between classes
Summer Reading Skills Programs are offered by Loyola Marymount University Extension and are designed and taught by instructors from the Institute of Reading Development. These programs teach key reading skills, from phonics and sight words for younger children to comprehension, reading speed, and textbook strategies for older kids. An Institute of Reading Development teacher provides all the support and instruction the child needs to grow as a reader and student. The programs aim to help children avoid summer learning loss and become avid readers who enjoy reading for school and for pleasure.
