About the provider

Howard Blume has studied extensively with Charles Kelley in NYC, Louis DaPron, Eddie Brown, Alfred Desio, and Heather Cornell. He has taught continuously since age 14 in North Carolina, Boston, London, and L.A. He has created seven full-length, full-cast original tap dancing shows over the last decade or so, and the most recent was "A Tap of the Creature's Curse" in 2024. The program’s goal is to keep the art of tap dancing alive and thriving with a serious but also joyous program suited to beginners, experienced tappers, and dance teachers. Some financial aid is available, generally to current students who have shown commitment to the classes. Special children's classes, private lessons, and family lessons are available by special arrangement.

Howard is willing to teach any level of student, preferably those who are committed to sticking with it for a while. To deal with crowding on Sunday morning, people are allowed to sign up for only one Sunday class until midnight of the night before. The website schedule sometimes is not up to date. There will continue to be some availability for private lessons.
