The Modern Schoolhouse

The Modern Schoolhouse offers infant care with secure attachment, sign language, sensory-rich environments, family communication logs, and social-emotional foundations. It also offers a toddler program with structured daily routines, peer interaction, language development, fine motor skill practice, and social skills. Preschool includes weekly themed curriculum, small-group instruction, take-home family materials, art, music, science integration, and social-emotional coaching, and transitional kindergarten includes academic readiness assessments, public speaking practice, kindergarten transition support, leadership development, and advanced social skills.

About the provider

The Modern Schoolhouse was founded in 2020. Sue Athwal is the founder and director. The mission statement says, "Exceptional early education should be available to every family — and it should feel like home." Sue Athwal holds a valid Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a degree in Liberal Arts and Psychology, a Childcare Program Director’s Permit, and serves as a Positive Discipline Parent Educator & Coach. All staff are CPR-First Aid certified, Mandated Reporters, and Live Scan and DOJ cleared with the State of California. The program has a 4.9-star Yelp rating and works with Make A Wish Foundation and Big Brothers & Sisters Club.
