Valley Opera & Performing Arts Education Programs offers school assembly shows that are interactive and engaging performances presented in schools, internships and apprenticeships that give real-world experience in the arts, and an upcoming Opera Camp where kids can learn, create, and perform in an immersive opera and musical theater environment. The program also includes a Low-Income Ticket Program and concerts for senior communities that feature a range of genres from opera to jazz. Valley Opera & Performing Arts Education Programs is part of Valley Opera & Performing Arts (VOPA), which presents performances in the heart of the San Fernando Valley.
At VOPA, the mission is to make sure that students, no matter their background or financial situation, get the chance to discover and enjoy music and theater, with a focus on bringing the arts back into education in a fun and engaging way. It has been the company’s goal, from its first production almost 20 years ago, to reach out to the most under-served members of the community in any way it can. Through the Opera Tree and OperaTree initiatives, VOPA brings music to senior centers, charities, veterans, low-income schools, and other underserved populations across Los Angeles, and has provided complimentary tickets to children, families, and seniors who could not afford them. The Opera Tree initiative symbolizes VOPA’s outreach efforts and relationship with the community, and the Low-Income Ticket Program is one way the organization addresses financial barriers to attending events.
