About
KCAT Youth Multimedia Camps focuses on creating and producing news segments such as weather, sports, human-interest stories, commercials, and on-air activities. Campers take part in scriptwriting, auditions, filming, production, set design, editing, and games. The program also includes a walking field trip into town to interview businesses and a live Friday broadcast for families, and the movie created at camp will debut at the Los Gatos Theatre.
• Ages: 9–13 years old
• Schedule: Weekly sessions from June 8 to August 7
• Price: Special pricing: $425 per week for half day; $700 per week for full day. Option to sign up for any 2 weeks of full day (TV & Movie Camp) and save $200.
KCAT Youth Multimedia Camps is part of KCAT, which was founded 40 years ago. KCAT’s mission is to educate, inform, entertain, inspire and create opportunities through television, radio and digital media arts technology. KCAT employs and mentors college and high school student creators, directors, producers and counselors who in turn mentor and teach youth. KCAT’s FREE 2b ME media arts program for youth initiative supports positive mental health and wellness through creative expression, and the FREE 2b ME curriculum has no grades, no tests and no stress. KCAT also offers The Producers’ Network, a community of adults 55+ with an interest in working at KCAT's media programs and volunteering at community events. KCAT TV contributes to the community by live broadcasting government meetings, livestreaming community events such as graduations and parades, fostering involvement in creating and producing local original content, and inviting people of all ages and cultures to participate in storytelling, hosting shows, creating content, reporting news, and learning media production.
