About

The Summer Aquatics Program includes superior swim lessons, recreational swimming, family pool time, and Learn To Swim group lessons. The program offers specific group classes such as Guppies, Level 1, Level 2, and Advanced Swim, and also provides Family Pool Pass access for recreational use of the pool.

• Ages: 2–14 years old
• Schedule: Learn To Swim and Advanced Swim sessions run in four blocks (June 8–19, June 22–July 3, July 6–17, and July 20–31), with group lessons held Monday–Thursday and Fridays reserved for pool-closure make-ups; Family Pool Pass hours are Monday–Friday 4–7 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday 2–7 p.m., and the pool is closed on July 4.
• Price: Cost per Learn To Swim session is $160, Advanced Swim is $160 per session, a Full Season Family Pass (family of 6) is $340, and a Full Season Single Pass is $180.

All swim lessons in the Summer Aquatics Program are group lessons with small groups of 2–4 participants per instructor, and lessons are not structured for one-on-one instruction. The Guppies class is a brand new offering designed for children ages 2–3 with little to no independent water experience, with requirements that include being two years old before June 1, sitting safely on the step independently, listening to one-step directions, sitting in class independently for 30 minutes without a parent, and tolerating being in the water and having water on their face. Level 1 requires children to be 3.5 years old before June 1, sit safely on the step independently, listen to one-step directions, sit in class independently for 45 minutes without a parent, and tolerate water on their face. Level 2 is for swimmers who are comfortable in the water without a parent, able to follow multi-step directions, can submerge their face independently, have previous swim lesson experience recommended (know how to scoop and kick), and will sit on their bottom during the lesson while waiting for their turn. Advanced Swimming focuses on stroke refinement and swimming for endurance, flip turns, and poolside and diving board dives, and meets from 8–8:45 a.m. in the same four sessions listed for the Learn To Swim program. Swim lessons are led by experienced instructors, and the program is part of Dunn School’s long-standing Summer Aquatics program, which uses a beautiful outdoor pool and offers flexible options to choose the program that matches each child’s needs and skill level. The pool opens for pass holders in June and ends in August, and partial-season passes are not available.

If a swimmer has specific needs or requires any modifications to fully participate, parents are directed to contact Dunn and speak with the Summer Director Jen Nash. Dunn School states that its mission is to educate students to their fullest potential in preparation for a life of learning and responsible leadership in society, and as part of the Round Square network of 200 schools around the globe, Dunn School shares an understanding of the link between character education and academic success.
