Access Mammoth Adaptive Mountain Sports Programs was founded in 2003 by Kathy Copeland. The program describes itself as a year-round nonprofit delivering personalized outdoor adventures with advanced equipment and leading-edge adaptive recreation techniques, and it offers year-round adaptive sports for people of all ages and abilities. The mission statement says that Access Mammoth embraces the opportunity to include everybody in mountain sports, breaks down barriers to participation, and creates fun, inclusive mountain sports experiences for people of every age and ability. The program states that it works with deeply certified instructors and highly trained volunteers. Access Mammoth qualifies as an exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and notes community involvement through a partnership with Inyo National Forest.

The program also offers several specific events and camps. Family Weekend is described as a weekend in the Eastern Sierra to relax, explore, and enjoy the mountains together. Women’s Weekend is described as an inclusive event that builds confidence, connection, and community through adaptive sports and wellness activities. Adaptive Mountain Bike Camp is a two-day camp focused on adaptive mountain biking, with support riders and instruction provided, and participants can bring their own equipment or use equipment provided by the program. The Copeland Center in June Lake, CA, is described as a year-round retreat offering a peaceful, inclusive space for military members, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and others facing barriers to outdoor access. Second Chance Thrift Shop supports Access Mammoth by funding outdoor adventures.
