Mono Arts Council runs K-12 Arts Education Programs and states that arts education increases test scores and attendance. Mono Arts Council also states that making art supports good mental health and social-emotional learning. The organization provides highly skilled Teaching Artists and art supplies for a variety of programs from Kindergarten through 8th grade, with a stated goal that every student in Mono County has access to art, dance, theater, music, and media arts.

The Mono Arts Council leadership team for these programs includes Kristin Reese as Executive Director, Brooke Rogers as Education Director and Teaching Artist, Alonso Escobar as Arts Advocacy and Policy Director and Teaching Artist, M Little Bear Bateman as Gallery Manager, Susi Bains as Board Chair, and Sarah Keith as Board Secretary. Staff credentials include Kristin Reese’s Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Sonoma State University, Alonso Escobar’s degree in International and Regional Studies (European Studies) from UCLA and a Master’s in International Relations from American University, and Susi Bains’s B.A. in Psychology from California Southern University.

Mono Arts Council states that its mission is to foster a lasting culture of creativity by collaborating with artists through education, advocacy, and programs. It partners with the Mono County Office of Education, the Mammoth Unified School District, and the Eastern Sierra Unified School District to fill gaps in arts education, and works with government entities to create channels for cultural and social acknowledgments. Adult programs, including Art & Wine and the MAC Community Arts Center & Gallery, are used to raise awareness for arts education and to give local artists a place to showcase their talents.
