About
Bloom Preschool is a constructivist program inspired by Reggio Emilia, with a project-based, emergent curriculum. Children spend most of their time outdoors interacting freely with each other and pursuing cognitive curiosity, in environments that teachers vary and set up to engage the whole child. The program maintains a 6:1 ratio so children can be meaningfully supported, and it is grounded in a theory of cognitive development rooted in Piaget, Vygotsky, Montessori, and others, where children learn through hands-on, meaningful experiences in social situations.
Bloom Preschool’s mission is to return nature back to childhood and is grounded in social-emotional learning and conscious parenting philosophies. The school describes itself as a constructivist, Reggio-inspired environment where children are secure in their relationships, play is honored, and their thinking is “provoked.” Children’s pursuits lead to collaboration in projects between children, teachers, and the larger community.
