About
Pamana Kali Kids Classes introduces children to martial arts through Filipino martial arts, including Kali, Eskrima, Arnis, and Silat. Classes also include a Filipino Culture Club that shares aspects of Philippine culture, history, and language. The program offers in-person sessions at main studio locations in Culver City, Long Beach, Manhattan Beach, Carson, and San Fernando Valley, and includes Pamana Kali T-shirts and two sticks with every trial.

Pamana Kali Kids Classes is part of Pamana Kali: Philippine Martial Arts and Culture, founded by Guro Alvin Catacutan after a decade of training and certification at the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts. Pamana Kali began in Torrance, California, with a grand celebration in August 2018 and its first official classes on September 1, 2018, and will move into its new home at the Manhattan Heights Community Center starting January 21, 2025. The program is led by founder and head instructor Guro Alvin Catacutan, with Guro Mike Makabenta as a contact for the San Fernando Valley location.
The mission of Pamana Kali is to embody Filipino identity, promote respect for elders, and serve as a bridge connecting diverse communities through Filipino martial arts and culture. The school offers classes for all ages, with specialized instruction for youth and adults, and is envisioned as a cultural sanctuary where individuals can immerse themselves in the culture and heritage of Filipinos in America. Pamana Kali states that the martial art of Kali serves as a connection to the warrior heritage of American Filipinos.
Guro Alvin Catacutan’s credentials include Kali Black Belt and Majapahit Silat Black Ikat from the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts under Guro Dan Inosanto, official representative status for Silat Buka Lingkaran under Guro Alvin Guinanao, and instructor certification in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Jeet Kune Do from the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts under Guro Dan Inosanto. Additional credentials listed are a Shotokan Karate Black Belt from the Japan Karate Association under Phillip Dingman Sensei and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under Professor Hugh Fitzgerald.
