Fifth Row Center Performing Arts offers dance instruction in a studio setting, with staff attention focused on the details of each dancer’s experience. The program takes place in a studio environment that is described as having a unique atmosphere and culture of home. Dancers in the program are described as passionate and hungry, ready to work.
The program is led by co-founders Deborah Porto, who also teaches, and Sheri Kay, along with staff member Shamicka, who describes herself as the big sister of the staff family. Shamicka has traveled the world with the International Broadway tour of Chicago the Musical for the last five years and has taught master classes all over the country. Staff members drive from as far away as Ojai to the studio. A sense of community is set as the highest priority and is described as permeating every aspect of what they do, and teachers are greeted with a personalized coffee mug filled with a K-cup of joy.
