About

Keke Wilhelm German Tutoring for Kids offers one-on-one, tailor-made German language lessons for children. The program provides private German lessons for kids, with learning content that aligns with the German curriculum for grades 1 to 6 and focuses on relevant competencies. Lessons and materials are skill-based, with instruction specifically adapted to each student's individual skill level.

• Ages: 5–12 years old

The tutoring is led by Kirsten (Keke) Wilhelm, German tutor and founder/teacher of Keke Wilhelm German Tutoring for Kids. She has over 20 years of teaching experience in Germany and California, holds dual state exams in Germany, and has taught German, Social-Emotional Learning, Mathematics, and Physical Education in elementary and middle schools. She has taught at Antwerpener Straße Elementary School in Cologne, Germany, and recently taught 2nd grade at GISSV (German International School of Silicon Valley). Since 2017, Kirsten has been living in Mill Valley. Her stated mission is that her German lessons are personalized and skill-focused.

The program’s approach encompasses over 300 competencies that span the complete 1st to 6th grade school syllabus, segmented into speaking, reading, and writing. It provides a comprehensive range of 100 competencies in each of these three areas, covering the entire primary school curriculum of Germany/North Rhine-Westphalia. German classes are available for children starting German from scratch, for those with prior German language exposure or German school experience who want to advance their skills, and for children planning to reintegrate into the German school system soon. Lessons use tools such as Google Classroom, Sofatutor, ANTON, and Jamboard to create engaging sessions.

A testimonial from Anne, Vice Principal at Antwerpener Straße Elementary School in Cologne, states that she and Kirsten collaborated for several years at that school. Anne reports that Kirsten’s presence was greatly valued by colleagues, that her absence is deeply felt, and that Kirsten earned the trust and affection of children effortlessly. Anne also notes Kirsten’s enthusiasm for teaching, her dedication to child-centric educational approaches, and expresses that children in the U.S. are now experiencing Kirsten’s expertise and warm personality.
