About
At Snails & Turkey Tails Nature School, nature is our classroom and curiosity leads the way. Our nature-based early childhood enrichment classes for children ages 2–5 invites young learners to observe, discover, and explore at their own pace. Each day is filled with rich sensory experiences, hands-on learning, shared laughter, and quiet moments of awareness and connection.

Children engage in scavenger hunts to gather materials for crafting, repurpose items that might otherwise end up in the landfill, and surprise us daily with imaginative creations. They try new challenges like balancing on a slackline, working with hammers and handsaws, making blackberry paint with a mortar and pestle, and preparing imaginative dishes in the mud kitchen.
Mornings are spent following animal tracks, climbing logs, splashing in puddles, and creating with natural materials. We read stories, observe seasonal changes, and learn through play guided by imagination, collaboration, and adventure.
Learning happens organically. Children practice early literacy and language skills through storytelling and conversation, explore math by counting treasures and measuring sticks, and build science knowledge by observing bugs, tracking weather, and noticing seasonal changes. Just as importantly, they develop social-emotional skills: taking turns, solving problems together, regulating emotions, and caring for one another and the land.
Our classes complement preschool or homeschool schedules, offering rich outdoor experiences in a small-group, supportive environment.
Snails & Turkey Tails offers children something many families are seeking—a slower, more connected childhood rooted in nature. Through play-based outdoor experiences, children build confidence, resilience, and strong social-emotional skills while forming meaningful friendships and a deep sense of belonging—both within themselves and in the natural world.
