Professor Samir Chantre leads the program and is described as both a 4th degree Black Belt and 3 x World Champion and a 3rd degree Black Belt and 3 x World Champion. He started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu when he was 9 years old, received his black belt from Professor Alan Moraes of the Carlson Gracie Team at age 20, and moved to Northern California in 2009 to pursue his goal of becoming a World Champion and having his own academy. He teaches full time at Ares Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy along with his instructor and other high level black belts. The academy describes itself as one of the newest and most progressive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academies in the world, and states that he believes Jiu Jitsu is for everyone, regardless of age, fitness, or experience. Jenny Wong states that Samir has a strong reputation in the Jiu Jitsu community and highlights his advanced technical knowledge, supportive coaching, and the students at the school.
