About
Montessori School of Modesto offers hands-on activities that include working with models, completing puzzles, exploring books and projects, and doing arts and crafts in Montessori classrooms with a prepared environment and specially designed materials. Children work in multi-age or mixed-age groups, which is a fundamental aspect of the Montessori method, in a setting that follows a Montessori educational approach based on the principles of Maria Montessori. The school includes a Two Year Old program, a Preschool/Kindergarten program, and a summer preschool and daycare program that all use a child-centered environment and curriculum focused on specific subject areas.

Programs at Montessori School of Modesto include a Two Year Old program for children 2–3 years old, a Preschool/Kindergarten program for children 3–6 years old, and a summer preschool and daycare program for children 2–6 years old. The curriculum focuses on language (reading and writing), mathematics, sensorial work, practical life competency skills, and studying plants, animals, geography, land and water forms, and continents and oceans in a culturally inclusive environment. Summer program themes alternate each year, with Invertebrate Animals in 2026, Human Anatomy in 2027, and the Solar System in 2028.
All teachers have state-required units in Early Childhood Education, CPR and First Aid Training, Mandated Reporter Training, and a criminal background check, and most hold higher education degrees and Montessori credentials through Montessori accredited training programs or are currently in training. All employees, including teachers, assistants, administrators, and supporting staff, receive a full background check through the FBI and Department of Justice, and the Montessori teacher has undertaken training to learn the Montessori educational philosophy and deeply understands the curriculum. The teacher-to-child ratio follows the state requirement of one teacher visually observing and supervising at most 12 children in attendance, and every classroom consists of a head teacher and two qualified assistants for a group as large as 36 students.
The campus uses a touchless attendance system, motion-detecting hand sanitizers, daily sanitizing and janitorial, external security cameras, access code entry, and an emergency disaster plan. All parents are members of the Parent Association, and each family is responsible for ten hours of work commitment per year per child. The school is non-sectarian and not affiliated with any church or religion, and children from various ethnicities and religious beliefs attend the school in an environment of cultural sensitivity and mutual respect. The Montessori School of Modesto has served the Modesto, Ripon, Ceres, and surrounding communities since 1997. The mission of the Montessori School of Modesto states that the school is dedicated to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for children to grow, learn, and thrive, views each child as a unique individual with limitless potential, and is dedicated to cultivating lifelong learners who possess a love for knowledge, strong character, and the skills necessary to succeed in an ever-changing world.
