Montessori School of Modesto follows a Montessori educational approach based on the principles of Maria Montessori, with programs for children from the age of two through kindergarten, including a Two Year Old program (2–3 years old), a Preschool/Kindergarten program (3–6 years old), and a summer preschool and daycare program (2–6 years old). Montessori classrooms at the school often consist of mixed-age groups spanning three-year age ranges, and multi-age or mixed-age grouping is described as a fundamental aspect of the Montessori method. The Montessori method at this school is child-centered and encourages independent learning, with an emphasis on self-directed learning where children can choose activities that interest them and work on them for as long as they desire.

The school states that all teachers have state-required units in Early Childhood Education, CPR and First Aid Training, Mandated Reporter Training, and criminal background checks, and that most hold higher education degrees and Montessori credentials through Montessori accredited training programs or are currently in training. Lead teachers are AMS credentialed, and all teachers are described as actively working towards their Montessori credential. All employees, including teachers, assistants, administrators, and supporting staff, receive a full background check through the FBI and Department of Justice, and the school states that it does not employ any person with a criminal record. The teacher-to-child ratio follows the state requirement of one teacher visually observing and supervising at most 12 children in attendance, and every classroom consists of a head teacher and two qualified assistants for a group as large as 36 students.

The campus is described as safe, spacious, and nurturing, with a safe enclosed campus, external security cameras, access code entry, and an emergency disaster plan. Classrooms are described as thoughtfully prepared to encourage exploration, problem-solving, and a deep sense of wonder. The school uses a touchless attendance system, motion-detecting hand sanitizers, and daily sanitizing and janitorial services.

Montessori School of Modesto is non-sectarian and not affiliated with any church or religion, and children from various ethnicities and religious beliefs attend the school. All parents are members of the Parent Association, and each family is responsible for ten hours of work commitment per year per child. The school is affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS) and is licensed by the State of California through Community Care Licensing.

The Montessori School of Modesto has served the Modesto, Ripon, Ceres, and surrounding communities since 1997.
