He is a 6th Degree Black Belt, World Taekwondo Federation Certified, and has 35 years of Taekwondo experience. His background includes an M.S. in Physical Education & Taekwondo (2003) and a B.S. in Sports Science & Taekwondo (2001) from Sung Kyun Kwan University. His competitive record includes being a Gold Medalist at the 14th Asian Olympic Games in 2002, receiving a Medal of Honor (Korea) from President Noh Moo Hyun for outstanding achievement in the 2002 Asian Olympic Games, being a 3-time Korean National Team member (1995, 1996, 2002) with the record for youngest Korean National Team member, an 18-time Korean National Champion, and a member of the Samsung S-1 Professional Taekwondo Team from 2001–2004.
