Camp Ramah in Northern California

Camp Ramah in Northern California offers summer camp with specialty tracks and intensives for campers entering 3rd through 11th grade. Campers can join Ocean Exploration and take part in kayaking, surfing, scuba diving, and marine biology, or choose Performing Arts, Outdoor Adventure, or Ramah Sports Academy with soccer or basketball as the major. The program also includes Surf Intensive, Scuba Intensive, Dance Intensive, Tikvah Program, Ezra Program, and Taste of Ramah.

• Ocean Exploration (B'toch HaYam) — Entering 3rd through 11th grade · Two-week specialty track · Campers experience ocean sports and marine biology; activities include kayaking, surfing, and scuba diving.
• Surf Intensive — Rising 7th-11th graders · Four-week intensive · Available June 22-July 19 or July 7-August 3.
• Scuba Intensive — Rising 7th-11th graders · Four-week intensive · Available June 22-July 19 or July 7-August 3; campers may become certified as open water divers.
• Performing Arts (Al HaBamah) — Entering 3rd through 11th grade · Two-week specialty track · Campers work with performing artists to build skills in a specific medium and create a play, dance, musical number, or set design.
• Dance Intensive — Rising 7th-11th graders · Four-week intensive · Available June 22-July 19 or July 7-August 3.
• Outdoor Adventure (Etgar) — Entering 3rd through 11th grade · Two-week specialty track · Activities include outdoor cooking, hiking and navigation, shelter building, rock climbing, gardening, and mountain biking.
• Ramah Sports Academy (Sport) — Entering 3rd through 11th grade · Available Session 2 (July 7-19) and Session 3 (July 21-August 3) · Campers choose either Soccer or Basketball as their major.
• Tikvah Program — Campers with mild to moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities · Two-week program · Special needs program.
• Ezra Program — Ages 18-26 · Vocational program for young adults with special needs.
• Taste of Ramah — Younger campers · One-week program

About the provider

Since 1950, the Ramah Camping Movement has been building relationships that last a lifetime at its overnight camps. Camp Ramah in Northern California describes itself as an innovative Jewish summer camp with an overnight camp experience that combines specialty programming with the traditions, nurturing environment, and community-building of a traditional Ramah camp. It is supported by an accelerator grant from the Foundation for Jewish Camp and the Avi Chai Foundation, receives financial support from the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund, and is a partner of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies.

Campers without all routine vaccinations will NOT be accepted. Campers should have received the full complement of routine vaccinations as recommended by the AAP and ACIP. Food is prepared in a kosher facility with kosher supervision. The kitchen is peanut and tree-nut free. The camp can accommodate many food allergies, lactose intolerance, and certain wheat allergies. Outside food is not allowed. Campers do not usually call home or receive calls from home except in special circumstances.
