High Street Arts Center Youth Theatre Programs include showcase sessions, theatre camps, and youth musical theatre education programming. The program takes place in a newly refurbished 266-seat house that presents live theatre, concerts, and comedy, with all productions using reserved seating. Accessible seating is available for patrons with difficulty walking or those in wheelchairs, and concessions purchased in the lobby may be brought into the theater, while no outside food or drink is allowed.
The Moorpark Foundation for the Arts sponsors the youth musical theatre education programming and a youth program that serves 200 kids annually. Showcase sessions and theatre camps are given under the direction of trained and experienced faculty. The Moorpark Foundation for the Arts states that its purpose is to support and promote the growth and enjoyment of the performing arts and visual arts in Moorpark and surrounding areas, with a major program goal of providing youth, particularly economically disadvantaged youngsters, with an opportunity to discover and experience live theatre. The organization is a private corporation in the State of California and relies on the generosity of individuals who participate in membership programs, as well as sponsors who provide annual support to High Street Arts Center and maintain its status as a leader among Ventura County’s performing arts centers. The leadership team includes David Pollock (President/CEO), Ken Rayzor (General Manager), Hugh Riley (Vice President), Cara Tedrick (Board Secretary), Laurel Marion (Treasurer and Finance Manager), Eric Manders (Board Member), Kathee Boyer (Board Member), and Darrin Ingram (Board Member).
