The Community School of Music and Arts was founded in 1968 and has a 50+ year history of arts education in Northern California. Its mission is to inspire excellence through art and music education for people of all ages and abilities. CSMA is Northern California’s largest nonprofit provider of arts education programs and is one of the largest community arts schools in the country. Nearly 30,000 community members are served each year through on-site and off-site programs, including art and music programs offered in over 50 schools during the school day. The award-winning Finn Center, designed by Mark Cavagnero Associates, opened in 2004. Financial aid and program subsidies are available to support access to the arts, and CSMA also offers a free monthly Family Concert Series that began at the Mountain View Recreation Center in 1984.
