Leopoldo Serao Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Martial Arts Academy

Leopoldo Serao Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Martial Arts Academy offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, No-Gi Jiu Jitsu, and fitness training. Students train directly with first degree Blackbelt Leopoldo Serao, who works with each student as much as possible. Many students from this academy have already won or placed in World Championship level tournaments.

• Schedule: Opening hours Monday–Thursday 7:00am–8:15pm, Friday 11:00am–7:30pm, Saturday 11:15am–1:30pm, and Sunday 10:15am–12:00pm

First degree Blackbelt Leopoldo Serao, who leads the academy, started coaching in 1995. He is a 5-time Brazilian Luta Livre champion and 5-time state champion, and he has been chosen twice by media and sport competitors as the best grappler in the 175–185 pound category in Brazil. He has over 350 Luta Livre fights and a professional mixed martial arts record of 17 wins, including a Middleweight Championship belt, with competition experience in Brazil’s CVI and MECA, Japan’s SHOOTO, and the American IFL, PFC, and TPF. Students come from across the Bay Area to train at this academy, and a testimonial from MMA writer and analyst Eugene Robinson describes it as “the place” to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the San Francisco Bay Area.
