About
Slide Ranch Outdoor Education Programs include activities such as family farm days, kids camps, and workshops. Children and families can hike the trails, explore the coastline, say hello to friendly farm animals, milk goats, collect eggs, and cook farm-fresh food from the garden. Slide Ranch is free and open to the public from sunrise to sunset, and no fees are required for visits, though donations are welcome.

Slide Ranch Outdoor Education Programs are run by a nonprofit organization that was established in 1970. The mission of Slide Ranch is to connect children of all ages to nature through hands-on education on its 134-acre coastal ranch and nature preserve. The organization was founded by Doug Ferguson, who purchased the property in 1969 and transferred it to The Nature Conservancy, ensuring its permanent protection. Slide Ranch partners with community groups, families, and educators, and each year hundreds of children attend on scholarship supported by its community of donors. Slide Ranch is a partner of the Golden Gate National Parks within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and it was one of the first Park Partners in that area. The history of the land includes Coast Miwok fishing and foraging and Portuguese dairy farming, and a fun fact is that Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead was one of the first donors and gave $500.
