Yellow Brick Road Preschool has two campuses known as the First Street Campus and the Spring Street Campus. The program describes its environment as warm, safe, and nurturing, with a focus on the basics, fun activities, field trips, and building friendships that can last a lifetime. It is described as more than just preschool or daycare and as a community that genuinely cares for children and families.
Yellow Brick Road has provided loving care for over 40 years, with the original preschool opened on Spring Street in 1984 and a second location opened on First Street in 1987. After her mother retired in 2007, Miss Minda took over full operations of both schools. Members of the leadership team include Miss Minda as Owner, Michelle Allen as Director of the First Street Campus, and Kerri Slevin as Director of the Spring Street Campus. Staff members have long tenures, including Kerri Slevin, who has been at Yellow Brick Road since it first opened, Lisa De Leon, who has been teaching there for 18 years, Michelle Allen, who has been part of the school community since 2001, Melissa Smith since 2005, Michelle Berg since 2010, Marisol Avalos since 2017, Courtney Perry since July 2023, and Connie Rodriguez, who has been working with children in the Napa Valley since 1990.
The owner is enrolled in the Early Childhood Program at Napa Valley College. Staff credentials include Marisol Avalos, who holds an AAS degree in Child and Family Studies and a BA in Child and Adolescent Development with a concentration in Early Development and is bilingual in English and Spanish, and Courtney Perry, who earned her bachelor’s degree in Child Development from California State University, Fresno in 2018. In 2025, Michelle Allen was honored with the Napa County Early Childhood Educator of the Year Award.
The program states that every child deserves a place to grow with confidence, curiosity, and care, and that staff provide a well-prepared environment where learning is fun, friendships flourish, and independence comes naturally. Families describe Yellow Brick Road Preschool as a community that genuinely cares for children and families and as more than a daycare. Testimonials from parents describe long-term involvement with the school, appreciation for the consistency and longevity of the teachers, and gratitude for the relationships built with the staff and community over many years. The owner is described as having built lasting relationships with generations of Napa families and being proud of the community created around the school.
