• Schedule: One week at the Sierra Nevada campground; registration drop-off on Sunday at 9:30 a.m., parent departure by 12:30 p.m., camp orientation/rehearsal at 1:00 p.m., and a concert on Saturday 6/27 at 10:30 a.m. with a BBQ immediately following.

The program’s mission is to give children 4th grade through college an opportunity to learn through music, experience nature without distractions, and make lasting friendships. Tuition includes room and board, twice daily electives, daily rehearsals, a commemorative camp theme t-shirt, professional photos, access to a snack shack twice daily with no additional money required, a BBQ lunch for the camper on the last day, and two tickets to the camp concert. The camp is theme-based, with cabins, decorations, and music following an annual theme, and the 31st annual session “Myths, Music, & Mischief” is scheduled for June 21st–27th, 2026.
Daily music rehearsals are led by award-winning directors, and every cabin has 1–3 trained counselors, with 20+ staffers housed throughout camp and always available. All cabins are separated by age/grade and by gender, and campers can request friends or family in cabin assignments. The DA kitchen staff team offers three hot meals and two snacks per day, with Dairy Free, Vegetarian, and Gluten-Free options available for an additional fee from the venue and a full salad bar at every lunch and dinner.
The camp began as Sierra Mountain Choral Camp and later added orchestras and a rock band, and in 2000 it became Sierra Mountain Music Camp with the addition of an orchestra for all ages. It held its 10th-anniversary concert in June 2004 at the Robert and Margrett Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts and later moved from Sierra Pines to Diamond Arrow Christian Conference Center at the end of the 2005 season. The camp is not affiliated with nor practicing a specific faith despite being held at a Christian conference center. Campers have attended from across California, the U.S., and as far as Argentina and France.
The camp’s Board of Directors has included Superior Court Judge Talmadge Jones, Attorney Ron Leachman, Casey Noland, John Henderson, Jim Failor, Peggy Noland, and Jerry Shantz. Counselors receive detailed instructions from Activities Director Nichole. In 2023, Peggy Noland passed away, and in 2024 a special performance in her honor was arranged.
Campers and parents are directed to the camper portal page for a detailed packing list and dress code guidelines. Lunch is not provided on the first day of camp, so parents and campers bring a sack lunch for themselves and/or their family. Items such as the zip line wrist band, sweatshirts, Celebration BBQ, and concert tickets are available during registration and can be updated via the ACTIVE account.
