Sun Bollywood & Beyond offers Bollywood dance classes, hip hop, yoga, fitness, and camps, along with pre-school and after school enrichment and summer camps. The program also includes a Bollywood dance performing group, interactive dance instruction, special occasion choreography, flashmobs, and event entertainment for corporate events, private events, holiday parties, and weddings. Families can also access event planning services and rental of Western, folk, and traditional costumes, as well as other dance costumes.

Sun Bollywood & Beyond was founded in 2012 by Sunita Raj, who is the Founder, Artistic Director, and Choreographer. The program follows a mission to provide dance training in a fun and creative way with an emphasis on strong technical skills and a well-rounded curriculum for students of all ages and skill levels. It is described as a dance, recreation, and entertainment company and as a one stop shop for dance, fitness, yoga, and camps, as well as for personality development and hobby classes.
The curriculum combines a variety of dance styles from India, including Bollywood, Semi-Classical, Raas Garba, and Folk, with modern dance styles. Regular classes are offered for ages 3 years to adults, and students perform twice a year in the grand annual Bollywood-style dance showcase “SunSational” and in Winter Recitals held each November, which include a Winter Performance and Trophy Ceremony. Summer camps are held every June and July.
Sun Bollywood students have performed at numerous community events across the Bay Area, and the program partners with select schools to provide after-school Bollywood dance programs. Sunita Raj has extensive training in Bollywood, Semi-Classical, Raas Garba, Folk, and Modern dance styles, has won numerous dance competitions, and has judged competitions including Bollywood Berkeley, CCF, Dance Dil Se, and Reflections.
Parent and student testimonials describe long-term participation starting as early as pre-K, enjoyment of classes for both kids and adults, and experiences with Sun Bollywood at parties, Diwali events, and family celebrations. Families also describe using the program’s costume rental repeatedly for dance clothes, and note large events such as a mega summer show, a winter gala, and performances attended by thousands of people.
