About
Corona/Norco NJB is a youth basketball league that includes boys and co-ed teams for grades K through 8th, a girls-only league for grades 3rd through 8th, and a high school league for grades 9th through 12th. The program holds player evaluations, uses a fantasy football style draft for team selection, and runs a one-day Championship Series tournament, All Star games for selected players, and an end of season party. Jerseys and shorts are distributed to players by the coach at a team practice one week before the first game.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Winter season includes around 10 games; typical practices are once a week on Saturday mornings for Rookie players and twice a week for divisional and high school players, with games always played on Sunday afternoons
NJB has been California's largest youth basketball league for over 40 years and operates as a 501(c3) non-profit that exists to promote community through basketball. Every player makes a team when a family selects the city and registers the athlete, and teams are eligible to participate in NJB's divisional/recreational league during each season. Rookie Division teams for grades K through 1st do not participate in player evaluations and are built by the chapter director and staff, while divisional teams for grades 2nd through 8th participate in a one-day Championship Series tournament at the end of the season, with trophies given out at the last game. Volunteer coaches are needed, and teams are picked in a fantasy football style draft using an online tool. The Corona/Norco NJB leadership includes Brandon Wells as I.E. Sectional Director and Sandy Angulo as Girls Director.
